HOA Updates June 2023

The month of June has given the community a few challenges that the board is working to rectify.

  • Storm Damage – in the early hours of June 16, the area was hit by a severe storm that caused some issues in the community. Several trees fell dues to the high winds. The board is working with our landscapers, tree removal services, and SWEPCO to clear the trees that fell on HOA-maintained property. Please for your safety stay away from areas with fallen trees until they can be cleared. Due to the extensive damage throughout the city, it may take a little time for the trees to be removed. One tree was wrapped in power lines, so we must wait for SWEPCO.
  • Sprinkler – the HOA is aware of a broken sprinkler head at the front circle and has been working with the landscapers to repair it. IT IS NOT a constant leak, so the landscapers are turning it on and off until the repair can be made so that the vegetation does not wither in the heat. There is also a leaking sprinkler at the median coming into the neighborhood that will be repaired this week.
  • Median entering the neighborhood – while this property is technically owned by the city, the maintenance of the median has not been consistent for several years. In the Fall, the city did remove the dead shrubbery, however, it is often overrun with weeds. The HOA Board is looking into having the landscapers maintain the median at our property line to ensure more consistent landscaping.
  • HOA Violations/ Maintenance Requests – we know that seeing properties that are not conforming to the standards set forth in the Savannah Place CC&Rs can be frustrating and inconvenient. There are also times when an issue occurs on HOA-maintained property that needs to be reported so repairs can be made. The HOA Management Company (My Property Manager) is tasked with sending letters of violations to homeowners. These include warnings and fines. To entice homeowners to keep up the standards, fines were increased for some violations. If homeowners see a property that is in violation or an area that needs repair, there are a few steps that can be taken. Log into the homeowner portal and submit a maintenance request. This will alert the board to the issue so that warning letters or fines can be issued, or maintenance on HOA property can be performed. You will also be given information to contact the city/authorities for issues that violate a city ordinance and can be handled more quickly by these local agencies.
  • Official HOA Communication – please remember that this website is the best source of official HOA communication as the HOA Board does not oversee a Facebook group.
